Before I get to the BCGP 2022 Exam info, we’ve got some big news to share from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS). If you are looking to take any exam this spring (BCGP, BCPS, BCACP, BCPP, etc.) the registration window is now open as of January 4th, 2022! Alright, now here’s more info on the BCGP exam.

The BCGP exam was the most difficult board certification put out by BPS. With a PASS rate of 44%, more people end up retaking this exam than passing. When preparing for the BCGP 2022 exam, you need to review the content outline prior to developing your study plan. In the video below, I break down the content outline.

In addition to reviewing the content outline for the BCGP exam, you must make sure that you understand what types of questions will be asked. Multiple-choice questions are the norm with only one correct (or most correct) answer.

One frequently asked question I get about the BCGP exam is “Are there brand or generic names in the questions?” When preparing for the BCGP 2022 Exam, continue to expect that generic names will be what is used on this exam.

Another question I have received is “What if I don’t answer a question because I ran out of time?” You will be penalized. It isn’t going to hurt you to guess at a question that you don’t know the answer to. Every year for the last several years I received an email following a board certification exam where someone tells me that they didn’t get through all the questions. You can’t let this happen. This is why it is critical that you do practice questions to ensure that you can take an exam at a consistent pace and make sure that you get to all of the questions.
